This period of cricket is for players with great fitness, but if ranked, perhaps India’s neighboring country Bangladesh will prove to be the most laggard in terms of fitness. In fact, a fitness test of Bangladeshi cricketers was conducted on Sunday, out of which more than 90 percent of the players have failed. The Test was the 1600 meter race, which only fast bowler Nahid Rana was able to pass.
Earlier fitness was checked through Yoyo or Beep Test, but Bangladesh team’s new strength and conditioning coach Nathan Kelly resorted to 1600 meter race and 40 meter sprint. A total of 22 cricketers were tested at the National Stadium on Sunday. Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Tanveer Islam and Shamim Patowwari took about 8 minutes to complete the 1600 meter round. On the other hand, Nahid Rana completed the race in just 5 minutes 31 seconds.
Talking to Cricbuj, a member of the Bangladesh team management said, “Nahid Rana did it very well. Some other players also did well, but there were some who did worse than expected.” The Bangladesh team is currently participating in the fitness camp for the preparations for the 3 -match T20 series against the Netherlands and then the Asia Cup to be held in UAE.
38 -year -old Mushfiqur Rahim did wonders
Mehdi Hasan Miraj completed 6 minutes 1 second, while 38 -year -old Mushfiqur Rahman completed the 1600 meter race in 6 minutes 10 seconds. Tanjim Hasan Shakib took 5 minutes 53 seconds to complete the race. Let us know that Bangladeshi cricketers will go to Silhet on August 20, where the players’ skills will be tested. Talking about the Asia Cup, Bangladesh has been kept in Group B with Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Hong Kong.
