Both have already said goodbye to T20 and Test formats. The report also claimed that Virat and Rohit want to be available for selection in the ODI team, so they have to participate in the Domestic 50-Over Tournament Vijay Hazare Trophy.

BCCI’s shocking reaction

Quoting the news agency PTI, a BCCI source said that the future of Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma is not a matter of great concern for the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Currently, the entire focus of the board is on the Asia Cup 2025 to be held in September and the T20 World Cup to be held next year.

On the news of Virat-Rohit’s retirement, the source said, “If Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli would like to retire, they will inform the BCCI officials, just as they had done before the Test retirement. From the perspective of the Indian team, the board will be focused on sending the best team in the T20 World Cup and September next year.”

PTI report also told that BCCI will never take such a decision in a hurry. Especially when retired players are so popular. The claim has also been rejected, stating that BCCI offered Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in Sydney on 25 October.
