Bcci domestic cricket format changes: BCCI has decided to make changes in Indian domestic cricket. On the one hand, the Dilip Trophy will be brought back to its old format, while the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 (Ranji Trophy Start Date) date has also been revealed. The Ranji Trophy will be played in two phases till 15 October-28 February. At the same time, after the final in 2026, a team will be promoted for the next season, while a team will be demonstrated.
In the season 2018-19, the BCCI included 9 new teams in the Ranji Trophy, including the North-East team. This decision has affected the level of premium cricket played at domestic level. Last season Meghalaya lost all its seven matches in the Ranji Trophy Elite Division. This change will be applicable to cricket tournaments of all ages in red ball cricket. The Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season will begin from October 15 and the first phase will be played till 19 November. At the same time, knockout matches will be played from 6 February to 28 February.
Dilip Trophy changes
In the Dilip Trophy, last season teams were named India A, India B, India C and India de. Now the teams are returning on the basis of zone in the Dilip Trophy. This means teams of India West, India East, India South, India North, India Central and India North East will play in the upcoming season. The Dilip Trophy will start from August 28 and the Women’s Inter-Zone Multi-Day Trophy will conclude on 3 April 2026.
The Super League stage is being added to the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Senior Women’s T20 Trophy instead of the knockout stage. The Vijay Hazare Trophy, Senior Women’s ODI Trophy and Men’s Under-23 State-A Trophy will be implemented 4 Elite Group and one plate group model.
