Why KL Rahul became the captain of Team India in place of Shubman Gill, why ‘decision’ was taken between Lord’s Test

Why did KL Rahul captain Team India?

On the first day of the third Test being played at Lord’s Cricket Ground, Shubman Gill had to leave the ground for some time. This happened in the third session, after which KL Rahul was given the command while he is not even the vice -captain. Meanwhile, Rahul took all the decisions regarding fielding etc. In the absence of Gill, Rahul captained because the vice -captain Rishabh Pant had already gone out of the ground due to injury.

Rishabh Pant was hurt in the index finger while diving off the ball of Jasprit Bumrah in the 34th over, he did not come on the field after this and Dhruv Juril took the wicket keeping in his place. If Pant stayed on the field, he would be given command after Gill went out but he was not on the field, so KL Rahul captained during that time.

England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and decided to bat first. Nitish Kumar Reddy gave India a good start, he dismissed the 14th of the innings and in his first over both openers Zack Croly (18) and Ben Docket (23). After this, Oli Pope and Joe Root handled the innings and shared partnership (109). Pope was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja by scoring 44 runs.

Harry Brook (11) was dismissed cheaply by Jaspreet Bumrah. After this, there has been a 79 -run partnership between Ben Stokes and Joe Root till the end of the day’s play for the fifth wicket. Root is 1 run away from his century, Stokes is unbeaten on 39. England have scored 251 runs losing 4 wickets.
