Faysal Bank T20 tournament final
on October 16th, 2010 at 4:52 pmLahore Lions managed to score 221 in 20 overs. They could have scored a lot more but Nasir Jamshed wasted too many deliveries couldn’t find the gaps on bad balls even though he scored 69 but he was lucky that he was given not out when the third umpire ruled that the fielder didn’t completed the catch.
Had Waqas or Razzaq came a few over earlier the score could have reached 240.
Even though the Dolphins bowling line up is quite experienced but they have conceded 200+ runs in every match they have played in this tournament. Sami as always has been fast, flat and erratic and gave away too many runs. I don’t think he deserved to be recalled in the national team.
Can lahore win this match? Yes they can but they have to get the wicket of Shahzaib early.
The trump card for Lahore will be Wahab Riaz he has been unplayable in this tournament so far. He is bowling extremely fast and is also moving the ball.
Karachi’s chances will be rested on just too players Shahzaib and Afridi both players are in devastating form, it’s unfortunate that Shahzaib hasn’t been selected in the national team, his performance in England and in ICC T20 WC wasn’t good but those who have been selected they also failed on the last tour and also failed in this tournament, I think it is a crime to ignore players like Shahzaib and Imran Nazir for T20.
Dolphins just rolled over every opposition in this tournament but this is the first time that they will be facing a quality bowling side, Lions passed the test as they posted a decent total but it’s yet to be seen if Dolphins can score against Lahore bowlers with same aggression as they did against other teams.
Lions could have collapsed if Karachi’s fielders had not dropped 4-5 catches and missed a few run outs.
Lions should have opened their with Wahahb Riaz but Razzaq chose to bowl himself.
As I was writing this Shahzaib is back in the pavillion after making a quick 33 runs . Now the match will become interesting and we will get to see how strong the Dolphins are without Shahzaib. Huge resposibility on Fawad, Asad Shafiq and Afridi.
This tournament has been a huge success almost every match has been packed it was very well organized the environment has been electrifying, the crowd supported every team unlike the crowd in Karachi where last year Stallions and Lions were booed and the crowd threw stones and other objects on their fielders.
Asad Shahfiq is out and now Afridi is at the crease.

Shehryar
I think there was no place for Farhat in the team they could have played Ahmad Shahzad instead.
Ahmad Shahzad really played very well.but its a shame that he hasn’t been selected,But thats good younis khan is selecte in team.
Maz
Ahmad Shahzad really played well, its a shame that he hasn’t been selected, I wasn’t impressed by Nasir Jamshed he got out on 5 when the third umpire declare him not out, he wasted too many deliveries earlier on and if Razzaq didn’t had him run out Lahore would have never reached 221. That was a deliberate and smart move by Razzaq.
I have been talking about Aizaz Cheema since last year this year he hasn’t been as impressive as last year, in last years tournament he was the bowler of the tournament his slower balls are very well disguised.
Maz I have seen Asad Ali bowl he is good but the best prospect right now to break into the national team is Junaid Khan.
Sami was totally Shit in the finals, Tanveer is also not international material atleast not a limited overs bowler.
PCB
It was a defensive move, Lahore was lucky that Shahzaib got out early otherwise the move to bowl Razzaq early could have been a fatal mistake.Apparently they saved him for Afridi.
Ahmed Shehzad played impressively. He has excellent hand-eye coordination. One to keep an eye on. Its a shame that a guy who possesses so much talent and ability has disciplinary and attitude issues. Nasir Jamshed also played his part at the top of the order and reminded us of his credentials. He scored heavily in the PP overs. Very strong puller and hooker and plays well down the ground too. Sharjeel Khan is another promising left hand dasher at the top of the order. So all in all, there are many young and decent openers and attackers we have available for ODIs and T20s if they continue to develop their game plan and perform.
Wasim, I saw Aizaz Cheema play in league cricket this year and I must admit that he is a decent prospect with very effective variations in length and pace. However, have you heard of Asad Ali? I think he is pushing for a place in the national side very soon if he continues to successfully produce the goods at the domestic level. He played for Moddershall CC this year and bowled extremely well, plays for Faisalabad back home and his stats are impressive. Comes across as an effective seamer who can move the ball appreciably both ways and bowl well at the death. Attacks the stumps and has good accuracy too. Only 22 years of age apparently.
I think it was the right decision to bowl Wahab later to let Razzaq and Shabbir have the extra assistance of the new ball. Also, it means Wahab could bowl more in the latter overs.
