Afridi and Ejaz Butt again ignore Younis Khan
on August 24th, 2010 at 6:07 pmPakistan announced it’s Odi and T20 team after Afridi and Ejaz Butt had a meeting.
The chief selector Mohsin Khan has been criticized a lot for not acting as an independent selector but not a word of criticism is being hurled at Afridi who finalized the whole team with Ejaz Butt in a one to one meeting. Has anybody ever thought that why Is Afridi behaving like a dummy captain? If he believes that certain players are being ignored for wrong reasons and he is not being given a team selected on merit then like all men of integrity and honor he should stand up against Ejaz Butt for truth and Justice.
By just issuing a loose and ambigous statement regarding ignoring Younis he tries to remain politically correct and gives the impression to the rest of the world that he sincerely tries but the matter is really beyond his control.
Is the matter really beyond his control? If it is then I am sorry to say Afridi even though he is supposedly a big and brave pathan is just another poodle of Ejaz Butt, who can only lick his master’s feet and can never stand up against him.
I don’t think in the current situation his role is any different than Mohsin Khan’s.
There is only one real man in PCB and that is Ejaz Butt the rest are just hermaphrodits nobody has the strength and courage to stand up against him.
It’s a dog eat dog world every one is for himself I really don’t think that Afridi has any sincerity with Younis Khan because if he had any then he should have done more than just issuing meaningless statements. These guys are not acting as poodles of Ejaz Butt because he is so powerful they are doing it for their own self interests.
The selected team is as follows:
Squad: Shahid Afridi (capt), Salman Butt, Shahzaib Hasan, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Yousuf, Azhar Ali, Umar Akmal, Kamran Akmal, Fawad Alam, Abdul Razzaq, Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Amir, Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal, Shoaib Akhtar, Wahab Riaz.
Reserves: Sarfraz Ahmed, Asad Shafiq, Mohammad Irfan, Abdur Rehman.
First of all what in the world has Hafeez and Shahzaib done since the T20 WC to get recalled they couldn’t survive in flatter conditions how they are going to cope with conditions where the ball swings both in the air and off the seam.
Where are the advocates of merit now and why are they not raising their voice against the selection of Shahzaib who was a complete failure during the T20 WC.
Afridi has not only ignored Younis Khan but he has also ignored Asad Shafiq, Sarfraz Ahmad and Abdur Rehman.
The reserves are not travelling with the team, Asad, Sarfraz and Irfan are playing with Pakistan A and Abdur-Rehman is probably in Pakistan the probability of them getting any real chance is zero.
Why Asad was not selected in place of Hafeez or Shahzaib?
Rahman will become history because he is a direct threat to Afridi himself.
There was no need to keep so many fast bowlers, an additional spinner could have helped a lot especially when Rahman performed really well in the T20 WC.
The selectors have still not learned from their mistakes, they have again picked some players who do not have the technique to play in English conditions the team consists of too many flashy players who will fail miserably in English conditions especially when the new players have not been acclimatized with English conditions.

Kamran
Yes they are Besharam, Kutey, Kaminey, haram zadey and Gaddar.
Yousaf
Why would you dream such a thing:)) I think it’s time to raise hell against these players and administrators as our indifference will only embolden them.
Support Liverpool not barca LOL.
what an absolutely fucking disaster. That Salman Butt……I am absolutely amazed. Amir, Asif…I wish I was dreaming. WHY WHY WHY.
Now its official – the sydney test was rigged. Mr. fucking cunt Majeed says that “Let me tell you the last Test we did. It was the second Test against Australia in Sydney,” he told the undercover reporter. “Australia had two more wickets left. They had a lead of 10 runs, yeah. And Pakistan had all their wickets remaining. The odds for Pakistan to lose that match, for Australia to win that match, were I think 40 to 1.
“We let them get up to 150 then everyone lost their wickets,” Majeed revealed. ”That one we made £1.3 [million]. But that’s what I mean, you can get up to a million. Tests is where the biggest money is because those situations arise.”
Can you fucking believe this!!! I stayed up the whole fucking night for that test and when we lost I actually had a few tears in my eyes. And now we find out that they actually let AUS win and made £1.3million.
Thats it – I am officially done with cricket. From now on I am only going to follow football. Go Barca!
well that is undesirable really, question is should we watch cricket now ?
why not make your country proud and earn money in the right way? wouldnt be suprised if the batting collapse had something to do with betting too. this guy who has been caught has boasted to have rigged many matches and the actual outcome of matches. that basicaly means pakistans matches in australia were most probably done along with many other. it’s a disgrace. they should send whoever was involved back to pakistan 2mro and never allow them to play again..even if it is our best bowler aamir. i think i should wait for the full story to come out within the next few days before i give my full opinoin on this but from what i have seen so far i think more than one player was involved his matter.
besharam kuthey kameeenaiii
I can’t believe it. Pakistan involved in match fixing again. Amir bowled no balls purposley for money. Haha fuckin joke
Pakistan won the toss and elected to field already they have dropped one chance, as usual one of the Akmals was the culprit, it was an easy catch and should have been taken.
It’s an easy paced wicket and Pakistan will have to take all of their chances if they have to win.
Strauss is gone Asif bowled em with a beauty.
Stani
We all know Mr 10% is the patron he must have given some personal goals to Ijaz Butt, the best way to skew the outcome of a match is through selection other than that I don’t see a reason why somebody would continue with an old fart like Ijaz Butt for so long and tolerate all his blunders.
There is a patron in the selection in every series in the first few matches they don’t play their #1 eleven for one reason or another and only pick the right guys in the later part of the series.
I supported Hafeez and Shahzaib a lot before T20 WC but they failed miserably both are technically not equipped to survive in English conditions their sucess will depend on the wickets they play on if the conditions will be conducive for bowlers then these guys will be a huge burden on the team and a waste of two important slots. With Ajmal in the squad we don’t need Hafeez.
The selectors should have learned their lesson from CT. For Odis at the top order we can’t play flashy players we need more classical batsmen look all over the world all the flashy batsmen are failing with the exception of Dilshan and Sehwag.
Our team is going into the Odis with a team combination for T20′s.
The selectors again didn’t learned from the experience of CT where both Afridi and Ajmal failed and Rahman helped the team in later matches why was he dropped is beyond my comprehension.
As regards Wahab he is yet to prove himself in the shorter format but he will probably not get a chance with both Gul and Akhtar back in the team.
yaba daba doo yaba daba doo
they just are playing with us (fans),with their team mates and with the world like everyone else is playing with each other in Pakistan.
Someone rightly said, those cricketers are one of us and if you look at us you will quickly realize what they are doing is just wht we are doing every where from a sweeper to DPOs, Ministers, Lawyers and Politician. Its a social curse.
Wasim,
Why did they bother with selectors if Butt wanted to play fantasy cricket and pick his own squads? Wasn’t he the one that withdraw Mohammed Irfan when he was initially picked? I couldnt imagine the head of any other board getting anywhere near influencing squad selection. What a egotistic so and so he must be.
I think this will be the last chance for Shahzaib for now but he is blatantly an Afridi pick! Afridi likes him a lot. If he could get him in then why not Younis?
I think Hafeez is a god option since Malik was dropped and probably rightly so.
As for the fast bowlers, there was no need for Wahab really. He is not very good in the shorter form and they could have left him in the reserves.
…and thanks for the image of Afridi licking Ijaz Butt’s feet Wasim! Ooof!
Mohsin
Afridi is just a puppet and he has admitted to the fact time and again that he has no say. They both have mutal interests. Butt needed a captain from Karachi to calm down Karachiites who were furious over YK’s case and overall selection process.
This is the main reason he is tolerating Afridi’s on and off field antics.
Afridi has made the most out of this situation, he got the job he was chasing since last three years. But will he ever standup for the betterment of Pakistan cricket? Absolutely no, so far he has played all this politics for only his self interests, he survived the ball biting incident ,ditched the team when he found out that his game wasn’t good enough for test cricket and this team won’t win under him so decided to run and hide and save his limited overs career and captaincy.
Salman has done an excellent job as a captain way better than the recent captains, I wasn’t expecting such maturity from him. But as a player and as a star he doesn’t have the stature to stand up against ijaz Butt. I don’t think he expressed his displeasure over Yousaf Khan’s recall, his words were twisted by the media, he only expressed his concern over Yousaf’s lack of match practice and showed some confidence in the youngsters but he clearly said that if Yousaf is in form a player of his pedigree can walk up in any team.
Wasim nice article. You are absolutely spot on here.. Many people here still fail to see Shahid afridi hidden hand in all this.
The only thing I beg to differ with you is that ,I strongly believe Shahid Afridi has got Ijazz Butt by his balls as Ijazz Butt has played all his cards on Afridi and his alliance is the key to Butt’s survival. Salman Butt on the other hand is a hermaphrodite captain that Ijaz Butt can enforce his descions at anytime.. For example Yousuf Inclusion in the team when Salman Butt and Waqar Younis was not happy with that decision.
I believe a good captain controls PCB just like inthe case of Imran Khan and Inzi and those were the only two successful captains. Hatts off to Afridi for controlling PCB to a certain extent. I still believe that Ijazz Butt wanted to have a meeting with Shahid Afridi and wanted to convince him to include YK. But we all know now who is calling the shots here besides just being Ijazz Butt.
Shahid Afridi has been acting like a nadaan dost to YK and He played his innocence again by declaring yesterday that I was ready for his inclusion but didn’t because of His and PCB differences. He is making a chootia out of public and media and unfortunately people are believing in his stories.
Pakistan A lost it’s first match against South African A team by 6 wickets.
There was so much hue and cry about not selecting Khurram Manzoor, Asad Shafiq and Shheryar ghani for the English tour.
Khurram scored a first ball duck, Azeem Ghumman and Asad Shafiq played agonizingly slow and wasted the power plays, they scored 20 runs in the first 10 overs, Ghumman who in my opinion is highly over rated departed after scoring 12 runs and wasting 10 overs, Asad and Sajjad restored Pakistan’s innings but couldn’t dominate the SA’s bowlers after getting set. Asad scored 80 and Sajjad 77. Sheryaar Ghani scored a duck, it is interesting to note that Naved Yasin who scored 1200 runs in QEA couldn’t find a place in the team. KCCA moans so much about merit where is the merit now.
Pakistan has wasted this perfect opportunity of giving some valuable experience to it’s young players to play in SriLanka before the WC but half of the players they have sent there have no realistic chance to ever play for pakistan.
Aizaz Cheema should have been selected instead of Talha who is a very ordinary bowler and is a perfect example of why our domestic performances do not count for much.
Irfan the giant could also not have any impact on the match took only 1 wicket in his 10 overs, he is not a natural fast bowler it will take him a lot of time to get ready. He might see some success in conditions where there is a lot of bounce especially in Australia and SA. But elsewhere he will be very ordinary.
