Group A
Kamran Akmal and Aizaz Cheema starred with bat and ball respectively to help Lahore Lions sink Quetta Bears in the opening fixture of the RBS Twenty20 at the National Stadium in Karachi. Kamran made 68 in Lahore’s 196 but Quetta’s response was so meek, they failed to reach 100. An opening stand of 44 was the launchpad for Kamran and his brother Umar Akmal to shape a stand of 62 for the third wicket. Kamran added 38 with Kashif Siddique and remained unbeaten, hitting eight fours and a six in his knock. Cheema, the right-arm seamer, sliced through the top order to leave Quetta reeling at 24 for 6. They never recovered from that position, limping to 91 for 9. Cheema finished with 4 for 17.
To make the tournament more exciting in future teams like QUETTA should be allowed to hire players from other regions it was a totally one sided match.
The day-night fixture at the same venue was a closer affair, with Multan Tigers beating Peshawar Panthers by 22 runs. It was a commendable fightback by Multan after they were reduced to 23 for 4, recovering to 146. Jannisar Khan did the early damage for Peshawar, before the lower order led the fightback. The 58-run stand for the seventh wicket between Naved Yasin and Mohammad Hafeez was the best of the innings. Yasin top scored with 35 while Hafeez remained on 32. Peshawar began very confidently with the openers adding 48 before it all went downhill. Hafeez and Zulfiqar Babar (4 for 26) shared the bulk of the wickets to bring Multan back in the game. Israullah scored 48 but after his dismissal, in the 14th over, the match slipped further away from Peshawar and they were ultimately bowled out for 124.
Again was the purpose of having two teams from NWFP when they don’t have enough talent to support two teams, Yasir Hameed, Rafat Ullah and Younis Khan moved to Abbottabad’d team and left Peshawar Panthers struggling.
Group B
Sialkot Stallions held their nerve in a cliff-hanger to overcome Karachi Zebras by four runs in the final game of the day at the National Stadium. The Zebras were favourites to finish it off as the rampant association between Khurram Manzoor and Faisal Iqbal, which had realised 125 runs in 82 balls, had to knock off 14 off 1.2 overs to finish the game. That was when panic set in, as both batsmen departed to run-outs off consecutive balls to throw away the initiative. Fourteen off six, with two new batsmen at the crease, became five required off the last ball, a task that proved too steep for Akbar-ur-Rehman as the canny Rana Naved-ul-Hasan dismissed him LBW to seal the thriller. The win was earlier set up by a strong batting effort, led from the front by the captain Shoaib Malik, who was risk-free and effective at the same time, striking just three fours in a 44-ball 67. Abdul Razzaq chipped in with a quick 38 as the score swelled to 171, despite the effort of Anwar Ali whose 3 for 24 had kept things quiet at the start. Mohammad Asif did likewise for Stallions, before Manzoor and Faisal nearly spoiled the day for the visitors, but only nearly.
For me the highlight of the match was the performance of Anwar Ali versus Rana Naveed, I saw Anwar Ali bowl after a long time not only that he has gained more speed but he also showed more control over his swing, the Zebras lost this match because of poor captaincy by Danish Kaneria and lack of bowling strength.
Khurram Manzoor and Faisal Iqbal were impressive but they couldn’t finish it off for their team.
Rana and Abdur Rehman were the most expensive bowlers.
UPdate Day 2
Group C
One of the tournament heavies Faisalabad Wolves began their campaign by crushing Abbottabad Rhinos by 90 runs at the National Stadium. Mohammad Hafeez and Asif Hussain set up the win with an opening stand of 89 before Asid Afridi, the left-arm seamer on debut, dismissed Hussain. Afridi later made a big impact in the final over, taking four wickets in five balls to leave Faisalabad at 165 for 7. The astute Misbah-ul-Haq, with an unbeaten 40 off 26 balls including four sixes, ensured it didn’t derail his side from an impressive total.
Abbottabad’s chase was never on, throttled early by Samiullah Khan Niazi. It turned out to be an evening for left-arm seamers as Samiullah dented the top order with three wickets. Abbottabad then lost three wickets with no addition to the score, including two to the excellent Shahid Nazir and at 57 for 7, the contest was long gone. Saeed Ajmal cleaned up the tail to finish with 3 for 4. Abbottabad are a traditionally weak side but were strengthened this year by the inclusion of a number of Peshawar players such as Yasir Hameed, Yasir Shah and Riffatullah Mohmand and will look to improve results.
Faisalabad looks very strong, their batting and bowling has a lot of depth and Misbah is looking in great form. The Rhinos never stood a chance against the strong Faisalbad team, YK didn’t played even though he is in their squad.
Group D
Karachi Dolphins got off to a winning start making light work of Hyderabad Hawks at the National Stadium. They had much to thank the visitors for pressing the self-destruct button before crawling to 119, a target that was always going to be easy.
Opener Shahzaib Hasan provided the fireworks during the chase, smashing 46 off 21 balls, including six fours and two sixes. Once Karachi had reached the halfway mark in just the fourth over, Khalid Latif continued the momentum, blitzing 32 off 15 balls. The openers’ charge was enough as the hosts sealed the win in the 10th over. Hyderabad made a watchful start with opener Sharjeel Khan managing a near-run-a-ball 39, but three run-outs in the space of three overs meant they ended on a well below-par score. Fawad Alam was Karachi’s most successful bowler with 2 for 20.
I watched this match Hyderabad started decently Sami got hammered in his first two overs by opener Sharjeel Khan, but the lack of big hitters in the Hyderabad side caused the problem Rizwan departed early who was probably the only explosive batsman in Hyderabad line up, Azeem Ghumman played a few decent strokes and was quite efficient in rotating the strike but he couldn’t hit the ball cleanly and looked out of his comfort zone against the short pitched stuff.
The highlight of the game was that both Sami and Afridi were a bit expensive, I was expecting a better performance for them since they are the key players in our national team, Pakistan should hope that Sami by the end of this tournament finds proper line and length for this format.
Another Highlight was the performance by Shahzaib Hassan and Khalid Latif both scored at a very high Strike rate, Shazaib in my opinion has a tie with Imran Nazir for the T20 WC. I also noted that a lot of key players of the national team are batting too low due to which they might not get enough match practice before the world cup. Afridi and Fawad should have batted at a higher number because they are going to get automatic selection.
I also got a chance to take a look at Tanvir Ahmed he was the highest wicket taker in the last domestic season, but I saw nothing special in his bowling, he makes a huge grunt while bowling every delivery like Sohail Khan but both bowlers are not express by any means.
The only two noteworthy pacers from Karachi are Anwar Ali and Sami.
Group A
Multan Tigers recorded their second consecutive win after cruising past Quetta Bears by seven wickets. Mohammad Hafeez and Mohammad Irfan set it up by sharing seven wickets between them to restrict Quetta to a poor 99. Rameez Alam then scored an unbeaten half-century to guide them home within 17 overs. Irfan and Hafeez cut through the middle order to reduce Quetta to 59 for 5 and it was a position from which they never recovered. Hafeez finished with 4 for 17 while Irfan took 3 for 14 before wrapping up the innings off the penultimate ball. Multan lost Babar Ali off the first ball of the chase but Rameez piloted the innings to help them coast home.
Once again Quetta team didn’t matched the quality of it’s oppsition and surrendered without putting up a fight, Multan team has the variety and depth in it’s batting they do have some quality spinners but they lack in the pace department which might haunt them against stronger oppositions.
Update 3
Rawalapindi Rams have beated Karachi Zebras by 11 runs, batting first the Rams scored 175 Ex Lahore Badshah all rounder Tahir Mughal played a match winning innings of 58 of 36 balls and Umar Amin supported him with an aggressive 37 off 25 balls. The Zebras could have won this match but their experienced players played selfishly, this is the second match in a row that Khurram Manzoor scored a fifty but in both matches he started slowly and didn’t improvised in the initial overs he is playing more for his place in the team rather than winning a match for his team, Rams had a decent bowling attack led by Mohammad Aamer and Mohammad Rameez, but the Zebras failed the opportunity to go after the medium pace of Hammad Azam he gave onnly 23 runs from his 4 overs and took 2 wickets. The zebras dropped Asad Shafiq after one poor performance and haven’t played Shahar yar Ghani who is also an exciting batsman. Faisal Iqbal impressed me the most as this was the second match he played unselfishly and played a good aggressive knock. Zebras could have done a lot better if they were led by somebody other than Danish Kaneria who in my opinion has failed to inspire his team and has made several poor decisions in both matches.
Lahore Lions have bulldozed Peshawar Panthers, batting first Peshawar’s batsmen were clueless against Lahore’s pace attack which comprised of Aizaz Cheema, Imran Ali and Wahab Riaz Panther lost two wickets in Aizaz’s first over and they were 4 down after 7 overs with just 34 runs on the board. Both Imran and Aizaz are quite fast and can swing the ball both ways, Aizaz Cheema was express and possess a lethal slower delivery probably the best I have seen so far by any bowler, he doesn’t change his action and the ball sinks in front of the batsman. Imran is more in the mold of Asif although a bit faster than him but his line and length is perfect and moves the ball slightly both ways and has a very accurate yorker. I think it’s time for Rao, and Rana to retire because these two are much more capable than both Rana and Rao. Wahab Riaz was also impressive but I think his shorter length would have been punished by a stronger batting line up. Aizaz has taken 8 wickets in two matches and Imran has taken 5.
Nasir Jamshed gave a flying start to the lions chasing just 117 he scored 33 off 21 balls and Salman Butt scored 47 off just 26 balls, the match was over in just 11.5 overs Umar gul was quite expensive as he gave away 36 runs from his 3.4 overs and failed to take any wicket. Gul still was totally eclipsed by the youngsters looks like he is still out of form.
Lahore’s team is very strong and it is more than likely that they will win this tournament.

Hafeez is destroying Lions pace attack, the match is being played on the flatest track and Lahore bowlers have been reduced to medium pacers, Salman Butt made a terrible mistake of bowling first probably had too much confidence in his bowling he failed to read the pitch properly was expecting that the wicket will take turn for spinners but it didn’t, the Wolves are all set to score above 200.
The wolves have bowlers like Ajmal and Shahid Nazir who are used to bowl on such pitches it seems that they will easiy win this match and qualify to play for the finals.
I was under the impression that Lions will meet Dolphins in Semi finals but that was not correct, so my apologies. The Lions will face the Wolves and Stallions will face Dolphins.
I think Dolphins will win and reach the finals, because if the match is played on the pitch on which it was played today then all the Stallion pacers will look pedestrian as none of them is express and they all rely on movement to take wickets. Todays pitch was flat as a cement track.
The real competition will be between Lions and Dolphins as both team have the bowling to match each other.
But one cannot rule out Sialkot completely as they are the most experienced in this format.
Why Sarfraz Ahmed batted at #3 for Dolphins?
This was a very aggressive move by Dolphins and Karachi association, they sensed a weak Eagles attack and sent Sarfraz Ahmad to bat #3 to prove himself as a batsman and make a case for his selection in the T20 team in place of Kamran Akmal, but Sarfraz other than a few nudges here and there a few ugly swipes couldn’t do anything of note and wasn’t able to impress any body, he is no match of Kamran Akmal.
Maz
Definitely it was carnage, and Lahore Eagles bowling was pathetic at best.
Khalid Latif definitely earned his place in the team today he is a proper batsman, there is still a tie between Imran Nazir and Shahzaib Hassan but I think Shahzaib has earned more points as Imran Nazir looked completely out of form. I think more clarity about the true class of some of these players will emerge when they face the real Lahore team in Semi finals. Lahore Lions have a very strong pace attack, I would like to see how Khalid Latif and Shahzaib perform against the likes of Aizaz, Wahab and Imran Ali.
http://www.cricinfo.com/pakdomestic-09/engine/current/match/449819.html
Carnage!!
Who said Khalid Latif wasn’t a T20 player?!! Very good cutter and puller. This guy can play.
Shahzaib will definitely be tested properly in the semis and after against stronger bowling attacks. He seems vulnerable and clueless against spin bowling. Today again he gave his wicket away with a thoughtless unnecessary shot. But, he is a good puller and he was looking dangerous in the second over when he hit 4,4,4,6. But, to be honest that poor bowler was having a shocker!
Sohail Khan has genuine pace and a well disguised slower ball which he uses and applies effectively. Sami is a good captain. He led Karachi Blues to glory in the Quaid E Azam Trophy earlier in the season. One wonders if he can do the same for Karachi Dolphins in the RBST20 and break the Stallions invincible run.
Karachi Dolphins crushed Lahore Eagles, the match proved to be completely one sided.
Eagles were put into bat by Sami after winning the toss, Imran Fahat and Taufeeq Umar started confidently but Imran Farhat got out after scoring 18 runs and send his elder brother Hamayun Farhat as one down, Humayun looked completely out of shape and out of form, Sohail Khan bowled at extreme pace for Karachi, almost killed H. Farhat with a deadly bouncer, for a moment it looked as if Humayun got seriously injured but his visor saved him, Humayun lasted just 2 more balls and got out without scoring and that completely turned the momentum in favor of Karachi the run rate dropped and none of the Eagle’s batsmen showed any temprament to stay on the wicket. Sami took three wickets and Afridi removed took 2 which included the wicket of Taufeeq Umar who scored 36 of 30 balls.
The Lions got out in 18.2 overs and scored 120 runs.
The Dolphins openers completely decimated the Eagles pace attack, Khalid Lateef and Shahzaib Hassan were hitting Mohammad Irshad and Mohammad Naveed all over the park, Shahzaib scored a quick fire 19 off just 9 balls and looked extremely good. Khalid Lateef played more elegant shots and scored his 50 off just 23 balls. Although the quality of hitting was extremely good but Eagles bowling was equally pathetic and the umpires helped the Dolphins by giving uneccessary no balls in initial overs buying the batsmen a free hit.
I was amazed at why in the world somebody would select a bowler like Mohammad Naveed, he has no rythym no accuracy looks like a bowler with broken legs who had no momentum to the crease and just collapsed while delivering the ball,he was too wayward consistently bowled extremely short and wide on a very flat pitch and was taken off by Farhat after just one over.
This is what nepotism can do to cricket both Farhat brothers were only playing from Eagles because their Imran Farhat’s father is an influencial member of the selection committee, I think this match should effectively end Imran Farhat’s contention for Pakistan’s T20 squad. If his father in Law makes any noise he should be kicked out of PCB with immediate effect. The mother fucker doensn’t own Pakistan cricket.
The first match today was played between Leopards and Wolves, batting first the Leopards scored only 103 in 20 overs, it was a clinical performance by the Faisalabad bowlers, Saeed Ajmal took 4 wickets and was declared the man of the match, Leopards depended a lot on Mohammad Yousaf who could only make 4 runs today. The only other highlight of the match was Shoaib Akhtar’s return, Shoaib bowled 4 straight overs with great pace took 1 wicket and gave away just 21 runs he looked in rythym was quite fast and was moving the ball both in the air and off the pitch. Umpire Naveed Ghauri denied an lbw appeal which looked quite plumb but shoaib knocked off the off stump of Mohammad Hafeez through a great inswinger just two balls later. The wolves in Shoaib’s remaining overs played him very cautiously and didn’t attempted any aggression against him.
The Wolves are into the semi finals where they will meet Sialkot Stallions.
Qamar
Wolves Vs Leopards and Dolphins Vs Eagles
Any matches on GEO today or in the next few days?
Therefore, I agree with Wasim that he should play and concentrate on his batting. He would have discovered by now that his bowling need to take set back or improve considerably. I feel he can become a genuine NO3 in the national team in the foreseeable future.
I watched the second half of todays game. Rana bowled well, didn’t go for a boundary, but the Rams put up a good fight.
Maz
I think PCB is punishing Shahzad for not performing well in U19 WC. Although he batted well enough in the finals. Hammad is very ordinary with the ball. In batting he puts a big price on his wicket and is very tenacious but needs a lot of improvement. I don’t know if you watced the match today but Rams put up a great fight, the umpiring was a bit unfair regarding the ball change and no balls.
Hammad is a useless bowler with all due respect. This is not the only time he has been extremely expensive. In the U19WC he also had some shocking economies i.e one over for 25 and of course the final match where he was costly with the ball.
Good batsmen nevertheless. I rate him as a batter. He has potential and ability to make it big, good range of shots and he has this strange tendency of being not out a lot. He can see a side over the line this suggests.
Shahzad was not selected purely on poor form.
Another failure for Nazir today. Tension is building as competition for places is increasing !
The Rams lost by 18 runs Aamer and Hammad Azam couldn’t finish it off, Hammad remained unbeaten at 36 runs. The difference between the two teams in the end was two overs of Hammad Azam and last two overs of Aamer they proved to be too expensive Rams were one bowler short whereas Sialkot had six bowlers and all of them were Pakistan’s frontline bowlers. Stallions will play Semifinal for the fifth conscutive year.
Aamer failed to bowl which Rana and Razzaq are doing at will in last overs.. Too many runs required in last over Sialkot will win this one
Hammad Azam gave away 34 runs from 2 overs, I think he should only concentrate on his batting he is doing great so far. Rams are 150/5 after 15 overs. Rams need 48 in last 5 overs but they have only Aamer left in the dug out who can bat a bit.
Earlier in the match we saw a mini battle between Aamer, Razzaq and Rana. Aamer lost the battle, he was visibly underpressure against Razzaq and was trying to bowl wide in an attempt to not get hit.
Aamer’s first two overs were a treat to watch but gave away too many runs in his last two. Didn’t bowled any yorkers a sign of worry for Pakistan.
The Rams are 119 after 12 overs they are still managing the required run rate the U19 sensation Hammad Azam is at the crease.
Sarfraz Ahmed cleaned up the dangerous Umar Amin and Rams Captain in a space of three deliveries, The inexperience of Rams have caused their collapse they were attempting too many shots they were way a head of the required run rate they should have kept their wickets intact and grafted risk free runs for a few overs.
Earlier Rana scored 95 off 57 balls, he was dropped twice once on 12 and then at 54. I still dont consider him as an all rounder all of his shots were ugly cross batted shots against quality international teams he can’t perform his bowling is highly inconsistent and on top of everything his integrity is doubtful. I would still prefer Aizaz Cheema over him who is a much better bowler than Rana and also can bat a bit.
It’s 99/3 after 9 overs. Can the Rams do it?
After 8 overs Rams are 91/3 against a bowling attack which includes Asif, Razzaq, Rana, Sarfraz, Malik and Abdul Rahman.
The rams are 71/3 after 5.5 overs. They got a great start Tahir Mughal and Naveed Malik hit Asif all the Stallion bowlers all over the park but Naveed Malik got run out due to a misunderstanding with Tahir Mughal.
He scored 28 off 11 balls and Tahir Mughal just got out making 35 of 18 balls.
The Rams are ahead of their required run rate but they have lost three of their best batsmen. Umar Amin is going great guns so far if he stayed till five or six more overs the Rams will have a chance to win.
The best thing about Rams is that they are chasing 198 and they came out with a very positive intent and and played good cricket against Pakistan’s four front line bowlers.
Shahid Yousaf got out C&B Raza Hassan on 31(22). The inexperienced bowlers of Rams allowed Rana and Shahid to settle down, gave too much width didn’t bowled any yorkers. If this team had one more experienced bowler they could have nailed Sialkot today. I hope that the organizers will realize this and in future won’t stuff one team with three or four experienced bowlers.
The U19 spinner Raza Hassan bowls too fast and flat probably scared to loop the ball,
All the pressure created By Aamer and Rameez got relieved in one poor over by Hammad Azam. Sialkot are out of the woods they are 55 after 7 overs.
Sialkot are 7/2. Aamer got rid of dangerous Kamran Younis in the first over and Hammad Azam ran out Imran Nazir in the second over again the commentators are clueless what is going on in the field and just saying what is coming in their mind. They are blaming Imran Nazir for the run out in fact it was Rana who started running the momment he played the ball and turned back from halfway and left Nazir stranded in the middle. Who so ever thinks Rana is an all rounder needs a brain scan. Aamer is bowling extremely fast and making the Sialkot batsmen look ordinary.
Lions win by just 2 runs. Great match. Multan chasing 168 put up a great fight against a star studded Lahore Lions but stopped short by two runs otherwise the Lions would have eliminated from the Semi finals.
Mohammad Irfan the & footer took 3 wickets in his first 3 overs and gave away just 15 runs. Lions were under pressure Akmal brothers put Lions back on track, Kamran Akmal scored 31, but late fireworks from Waqas Ahmed and Umar Akmal took lions to a respectable score. Zulifqar Babar Pakistan’s emerging leg spinner bowled beautifully and was very difficult to put away, unlike other spinners he is not afraid to flight the ball and varies his pace and length to great effect. Former pinch hitter Manzoor Elahi has done well in coaching Multan’s team. Several players in this team are worthy to play in the national team. Multan’s batting scored against one of the best pace attack in Pakistan where as Lahore’s star studded team struggled against a weak pace attack of Multan. The fielding by both teams was not upto the mark, both teams dropped several catches and there were many fielding lapses around the boundary in both innings.
PCB should take note of the poor and biased commentary done by some of the commentators, Yahaya Hussaini during the presentation ceremony instead of congratulating Abdul Rauf for putting up a great fight against the strongest team in the tournament said” Once again your team lost in the first round what do you have to say about it?
Tigers are out of the tournament by losing just one match unlike Karachi Zebras who failed to win a single match, the same presenter asked Kaneria ” Despite playing good cricket your team lost are you disheartened.
4 runs required off last ball.
5 runs required off 2 balls.
9 runs required off just three balls.
Wahab Riaz will bowl the last over. 12 runs required off 5 balls
14 runs required from 7 balls, Damn Hafeez got out on the last ball of the over getting caught on the boundary Wahab Riaz took a spectecular catch on the boundary.
Last over and 14 runs are required.
147/6, 21 runs required from 9 balls.
Multan are 141/5, 27 required from last two overs.
35 required of 17 balls, now Multan are under pressure. Imran Ali is bowling yorkers at will.
Kashif Naveed and Naveed Yasin can definitely bat both of them are good prospects for Pakistan. Multan are 131/5 chasing 167. It’s still possible but some big hitting is required from Abdul Rauf.
Multan needs 42 off 23 Balls Kashif Naveed batting at 56 and going great. Lions are under pressure.
Earlier Umar Akmal pulled out Lions out of trouble by scoring an aggressive 50+, Multan gave away 15 runs extra in the last 7 overs, poor last over by the 7 footer Mohammad Irfan.
Damn Kashif Naveed got run out taking an un necessary 2nd run.
Great match going on between Multan Tigers and Lahore Lions.
Mussaddiq
Even if Nazir is out of form?
Asalam o alakium.I think that opening pair of pak team is imran nazir&kamran akmal.
I agree that Stallions are beatable.
Sure Wasim bhai.
Will try to ask some Lahore team mates next time I speak to them.
I guess it could be due to :
1) Dropped or simply not selected. Remember several expected names weren’t included i.e. Babar Azam
2) Studies
3) Unfit

I am updating the site everyday with a brief bullettin about all the RBS matches.
hello.
Nice way to establish player by such tournaments.
But your site is not updated by day’s fixtures and scores.
plz update
Maz can you find out why Ahmed Shahzad is not playing.
Maz
The competition is not balanced in the first round, Quetta, Hyderabad, Peshawar, and Abbottabad are extremely weak but even if we look at the ICC tournaments there is at least one minnow side. I think Peshawar could have been stronger if we hadn’t created Rhinos out of it. And Quetta should get some reinforcement from Punjab or special efforts should be made to create more talent over there.More funds should be given to them and professional coaches should be sent over there to develop and promote cricket at grass roots level.
Rams, Leopards, Dolphins, Stallions, Tigers, Lions, Wolves and Eagles are all quite balanced and strong. I think you will see an upset this year, I don’t think Stallions will win this year. Lions, Dolphins, Wolves and Stallions will reach the semis, and these four sides are fully capable of beating each other.
The Lions are the strongest outfit but traditionally Lahore Lions have always been star studded but they rarely win any domestic tournament they always choke in the finals or semis.
I think if we take out Rams, Leopards and Eagles we still have six teams which can easily beat each other. The tigers have good batting and good spinners but they lack in pace department they have won their both match so far. Wolves are strong enough to beat any side especially their batsmen are in form and that team has been playing together for quite some time. Stallions looks strong on the paper but they can be beaten the only thing is they are clinical when it comes to this format, ttalent and form wise other teams can match them in a pound to pound comparison. Rams won their first match quite convincingly they have only one major star but they do have some exciting young players, and Leopards have Shoaib Akhtar, Rao, and Yousaf and all three of them if they have any cricket left in them can turn any match in their favor so I won’t under estimate these two teams either. But so far Lions and Dolphins have looked to be the strongest teams in this tournament, Stallions and Wolves are also not far behind.
The second round will be quite interesting.
This competition is fixed. There are too many minnow sides. It is clearly inevitable who is going to progress to the semis. Some teams are packed with international players whereas other teams are packed with several unknown names i.e. Hyderabad, Peshawar and Quetta. But then you get teams like Sialkot who are loaded with international star studded highly acclaimed experienced cricketers. There is no balance. This has always been a feature of our domestic structure in the past. No wonder the Stallions have won this competition 4 times consecutively, perhaps even a fifth time. The “real” competition only starts when we reach the semis and after that !
Another reason this causes is that it leads to is misleading pathways. Some players are made to look like demons but then they realise they have been playing weak bowling attacks or batting line ups and therefore find and see it as easier, but struggle when they are tested “properly” in international cricket or something ! Competitiveness needs to improve considerably if we are to find genuine successful cricketers flourishing through the ranks. This is what Australia have in operation and this considerably contributes as to why they have so many successful emergences. Players seem as if they already have exposure to international cricket when they debut in Aussie land !
Shami
Ahmad is not playing this tournament, usually he plays for Lahore but this time his name is not even in the Eagles Squad, I don’t think that he is being ignored because of performance because he did ok recently with the u19 team, it must be a fitness issue or personal reason.
yaar plz agar ahmad shehzad ka kuch pata hai tu batao. i m a die hard fan of him!!!!!
i think this match was fixed with two ropes all over across the bounndary thats why sami able to take captaincy beside of Afridi

Shahzaib has tie with Imran Nazir so far Shahzaib is one up, but Hyderabad has a very weak bowling so we will have to wait till the end. But so far he has very good chance of getting selected.
I agree with you on Raza hassan and I have been following his performance very closely but right now it will be very hard for any spinner to make it to the national team
For some odd reason he wasn’t selected in any of the domestic line ups in this RBST20 but I hear that he has been added to the Rawalpindi team. Same applies for Babar Azam, Usman Qadir, Zulqarnain and co ? It’s a mystery how some of them can be in the preliminary national squad, but yet aren’t in any domestic team ! Simply needs an explanation one shall feel !
Wasim, what’s your view on Raza Hasan, the impressive left arm spinner whose having a wonderful time of it of late ? 9/74 overall in the 3 matches against England A with performances of 3/16,3/45 and 3/13. Average of 8, astonishing SR of 15 and economy of around 3 as well ! Out of those 9 wickets, 4 were bowled and 4 were LBW which suggests he caused the problems himself rather than the batsmen gifting their wickets away.
Interestingly, his role model is Murali. Ijaz Ahmed recommends that Pakistan select him in the final 15 man squad for the T20WC and the England tour after. I totally agree with Ijaz. This bowler is very unique and special. His flight, guile, accuracy, variation and ability to turn the ball was very impressive in the U19WC. Moreover, he has performed consistently and is a very mature and focussed cricketer. He is overshadowing Usman Qadir currently and I feel together, these two hold the future of spin bowling in Pakistan.
I have high hopes for Raza.
Stani, these matches are being televised in UK on GeoTV (channel 815) !!
My Analysis on Shahzaib Hassan Khan
——————————————————————————–
Scored 45 off 21 balls today. Averages 28 in domestic T20 with SR of 121.
Strengths
1) Can score quickly.
2) Prepared to play lofted shots (courage).
3) Can deal in boundaries.
4) Fast hands.
5) Naturally very talented.
Weaknesses
1) Gives his wicket away too easily.
2) Hits the ball a lot in the air.
3) Can score a lot of runs streakily or in an unconvincing manner.
Does he deserve a place in the final 15 ? Is or will he be better than Imran Nazir ?
Stani
I watched it on Geo Super.
Wasim,
Where did you watch this? They should spread the international players out to make it more competitive. Maybe put some restrictions in place.
Thanks for the insight.
