After losing the test series against South Africa and after playing a closely contested series against New Zealand at home the Australians came to South Africa as clear under dogs, the loss against South Africa not only hurt their pride but also took their #1 rank.

The Australian players quietly went to their respective states and worked hard in their domestic tournament in preparation of this upcoming series, vengeance was in their minds.

The selectors removed the weaklinks in the team and replaced them with some of the top performers in the domestic tournaments, as a result they managed to assemble a winning combination.

I have a feeling this current combination is for the long term, the only thing missing in the Australian line up is a quality spinner.

Their batsmen managed to face off some fearsome bowling spells by the South African bowlers their lower order batsmen played out of their skins, their bowlers bowled with discipline and aggression.

The South Africans were rusty in this match but they fought till end and tried their best to win the match, in my opinion the x factor in this match was the innings of North and Mitchell Johnson, South African late order especially JP Duminy couldn’t match the performance of Mitchell and North.

It’s going to be a cracker of a series, there will be no dead pitches and there will be no fake competition, it’s going to be a dog fight.
