Osman Samiudin has been supporting Younis Khan’s appointment as Pakistan’s captain he has devoted all his articles for camaigning against Malik and has vigorusly supported Younis Khan.

Almost all of his recent articles about the captaincy issue have been plagued with double standards.

In his recent article he wrote:

“Two years ago he was the best man for it. Today he is the only one for it.”

The fact is that he chickened out two years ago citing some trivial reasons, his reluctance demonstrated how emotionally unstable he is, the same is reflected in his batting.

He further writes:

“Beyond that, prospects are bright. Above everything, there is no dispute over his place in ODIs or Tests: even with Mohammad Yousuf in the side, Younis is the most resolute, all-conditions batsman in Pakistan, runs in Australia coming as did runs in England, South Africa and Pakistan. Crucially, his team knows it”

Prospects might be bright for Younis but not for Pakistan team, he has been a lousy captain domestically and internationally he captained the team in 6 matches out of which he lost 4. He is a good test batsman but I don’t think he is an all condition Odi batsman.

The following are his averages in major tournaments.

CB Series in Australia he averages 6

WC 2003 & 2006 he averages 17.28 in 8 matches.

Champions trophy he averages 12.75 in 5 matches.

Natwest series he averages 31.16, 12 against Australia and 37.55 against England.

In the current series against Sri lanka he scored at an average of 9.33 he was the single person responsible for Pakistan’s loss in T20 WC. He got the well set Imran Nazir run out and after two deliveries played the most stupid shot one can imagine and threw away his wicket. His current performance against Srilanka was nothing short of backstabbing Malik.

“He is also the first indigenous Pathan to lead Pakistan:”

Is that a qualification?

“Without quite applying one brush to a whole people, the codes of life Pathans abide by are of a different feel, in place long before the country they now live in came into being. Their views on honour, justice, enmity and loyalty are often views apart. It was written once that if there is an element of lawlessness about them, the flipside is an attractive consciousness of their own dignity. So when Younis walked away from the captaincy before the Champions Trophy in 2006, one of the spurs was the sacking of a peon at the National Cricket Academy. Having to then wait to meet chairman Shaharyar Khan for a meeting subsequently tipped Younis over the edge. Not everyone will understand it, but that is the way it is.”

You failed to mention some other traits i.e back stabbers, rogue, untrustworthy, and betrayers. I dont see any dignity and honor in betraying and back stabbing your captain by under performing.

“He is fiercely independent, but just as fiercely committed. To whatever the cause, he will bring the fight, and a good, clean fight. Lord knows Pakistan needs more than anything right now to fight on the field; off it, fight off the danger of mediocrity and obscurity.”

Like the kind of fight he showed in three World cups and two Champions trophies, he threw away his wicket in the most stupid manner and then smiled like a buffoon without any remorse you might see it as being happy go lucky but I see it as shamelessness. What integrity you are talking about? He is under suspicion of ICC’s ACU, he was questioned last year in India.

“Younis is less likely to tolerate the mistakes that Shoaib Malik – thus revealing the limit of his ambitions – was willing to. Thankfully he is also less likely to put up with the passengers Malik carried. But grudges, rest assured, will be held. Altogether, however, he will give himself whole to the job”

You just wait and watch only the ethnicity of the passengers will change, he along with Afridi are the two last surviving members of the morally corrupt players of the Inzamam mafia. I forgot to mention this above holding grudges is another part of the proud traditions of the pathans, I thought he was going to gel the team how is he going to do it by holding grudges its beyond my comprehension. Pakistan will perform well in the upcoming test series and wait until the next significant ODI series you will have your foot in your mouth.

“Immediate impacts cannot be guessed. Younis has downplayed how much should be expected of one man, while also stressing the depths of Pakistan’s ills. Realism remains preferable to the blandness of most captains stating they want to do well, or some such: the team will still be mostly the same so miracles cannot be expected”

So why was Malik changed, why did you expected miracles from him? Wasn’t he leading the same team, why he wasn’t afforded the same margin?  Your statement reveals your double standards, Malik became a victim of jingoism he was  working in the same environment in which Younis is going to work but despite producing decent results he was consistently attacked by people like you.

Pakistan’s cricket has always suffered because of two reasons corrupt management and rogue senior players, it should be the duty of honest and independent journalists to highlight the above problems and they should have supported Malik in getting rid of these rogue players rather than criticizing him, even Imran Khan can’t produce any results if he is given a team full of back stabbing players.

My prediction about Younis is that he will not survive even a year he will walk out after a few series and will lay the blame squarely on everybody else.
