Historically cricket becomes the first victim whenever tensions escalate between India and Pakistan, countries go to war over disputes but India and Pakistan like to suffocate each other to death by not playing cricket against each other, although in the past such policies have largely remained ineffective.

Neither country surrendered and the cricket fans also somehow survived decades of stupidity.

Once the war hysteria or the spell of stupidity will be over cricket will  be used  again to warm up the relations between the two countries but until then  the cricket fans in both countries will have to suffocate.

Death by cricket will be the slogan.

I have never understood the logic of boycotting a sporting event for the sake of politics, no country has ever surrendered because of not playing a particular sport it cannot cause an economic meltdown of a country neither it can make the population of a country go extinct during the course of a boycott. So what’s the logic?

India will boycott Pakistan in bilateral sports and Pakistan will reciprocate. It will probably stop its players from taking part in IPL and ICL and may lift a ban on ICL players the feud between the two countries might result in a feud between the two cricketing boards which can hurt both entities in many ways.

There will be one more country which will not play in Pakistan but does it mean cricket will eventually die in Pakistan, I don’t think so, history tells us that cricket never died in South Africa during decades of complete isolation, Pakistan cricket will also survive.

The peace process which was initiated through cricket diplomacy was all reversed by one terrorist attack followed by some lack of patience and lack of diplomatic foresight and political opportunism, the terrorists and warmongers won and the peacemakers lost.

The people in Pakistan watched the horror at Marriott hotel and they also watched the horror in Mumbai, while they knew how their neighbors were feeling yet they didn’t knew how to console them as they were the ones who were accused.

The people of Pakistan are completely clueless that who prompts the terrorists attacks within Pakistan and who prompted the attacks inside Mumbai, these unanswered questions result in the creation of conspiracy theories and they are woven in abundance on both sides of the border as the general population is kept in dark while their future is redirected.

The ordinary Pakistani’s and the ordinary Indians were sincere at heart with the peace process but some elements in the establishment of both nations were not, a handful of warmongers are controlling the fate of 1.25 billion people. It’s time that we take that control back from them by not playing in their hands and  by staying committed to the peace process.

The people of India instead of revenge from Pakistan should demand co-operation with Pakistan regarding the investigation and the people of Pakistan should demand serious action against those who tried to sabotage the peace process.

Meanwhile spare us the stupidity and keep politics away from sports.
