Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat, both openers were back in pavilion when the score was 7. Known for their mercurial nature it was expected that Pakistan after a great performance in the first match might become complacent and allow the Caribbeans to come back in the series, but I never suspected that they will engineer a downfall, some strange decisions were taken by the tour selection committee they dropped Fawad Alam and included Saeed Ajmal in his place, they were already missing Mohammad Yousuf and with Afridi out of form and dropping Fawad they are playing with only 5 regular batsmen the decision was nothing short of a suicide, all they needed was to change Rauf.

Another thing which was missing from Pakistan team was the positive intent, after losing quick wickets Pakistani batsmen became too cautious and the boundaries dried up they didn’t even looked to put away bad balls, only 5 boundaries were hit in the first 15 overs, the cautiousness was though not reflected in their running between the wickets, Malik got run out when he was sent back by Misbah the second run was not there but it seems that some players are not communicating with each other, Misbah should have said no a bit earlier he sent Malik back when he was half way through for the second run, Misbah got out soon after completeing his 50, Afridi and kamran Akmal scored some quick runs but both got out in quick succession, Afridi scored 28 and Akmal scored 45.

Sohail Tanvir came after the departure of Afridi and was looking good he struck three boundaries in the 48th over against the bowling of Taylor, it seemed as if Pakistan will reach close to 250 but Tanvir got run out in the same over trying to take a single but Umar Gul remained unmoved and in the end Tanvir was stranded in the middle, the single was there but Umar Gul neither said no nor he moved, it was Tanvir’s call and Umar gul should have answered it especially when Tanvir was striking the ball so well, Pakistan were all out for 232 in 49 overs.

West Indies gave a disciplined performance their bowlers bowled on a tight length and never gave too many opportunities to the batsmen, their fast bowlers moved the ball in both direction earlier on and struck some early blows their spinners bowled to a disciplined line and length with the exception of Sarwan who was clearly nervous against Afridi, their fielders made some spectacular stops and fully backed their bowlers.

It will not be an easy task to chase these runs, especially when the length of the boundary has been increased in this match and Pakistan’s bowling has been strengthened by the inclusion of Saeed Ajmal, batting second in lights is also not easy the wicket has developed some cracks and it might cause some problems for the left handed batsmen, if Pakistan can strike some early blows and especially if they remove Gayle early they will have a chance, the key to their success is how good their pacers bowl.

So far so good, Sohail Tanvir has just bowled Gayle with an in swinging yorker, what a beauty.

Tanvir  was moving the ball in both directions and created doubt in Gayle’s mind and then bowled a beautiful in swinging yorker to clean him up.

Umar Gul is in operation he looked ordinary in the first match but so far here he is looking good.

Tanvir does it again, Chatergoon is gone, he was looking to play an inswinger but the ball moved at the last moment the other way and he edged it to Kamran Akmal.

Umar Gul is again struggling with his length, he is bowling too short, Malik should change him and bring in Rao.

Malik should have taken an extra slip for Tanvir he is too defensive in his approach.

Pakistan needs to cut down on extras, Rao is coming in to bowl, he should bowl to a perfect line and length as the West Indian batsmen will definitely try to take him out.

Pakistan bowlers need to be a bit innovative at this time and should break this partnership.

Afridi gets the breakthrough for Pakistan he removed Sarwan with a beauty just when the match was slipping away from Pakistan he bowled a faster top spinner and Sarwan was plumb in front of wicket, Malik has been too defensive he should have tried to block the singles Sarwan and Chanderpaul were given too many easy runs as there were not many fielders inside the circle earlier he should have kept one more slip when Tanvir was bowling.

I am not impressed with the way Saeed Ajmal is bowling I haven’t seen a doosra from him so far he is bowling a bit short and the variation is not there maybe Malik needs to bowl a few overs, Tanvir has bowled 7 overs Malik should have changed him after 6. Pakistan needs to remove Chanderpaul quickly.

Mr Butter fingers dropped Findley on the bowling of Afridi Pakistan missed a perfect chance to put pressure on west Indies.

Malik needs to block the singles. Chander paul won’t get out until he will go for big hits.

Saeed Ajmal dropped ChanderPaul off the bowling of Afridi this is a costly mistake.

I think Pakistan lost its chance to win this match two catches were dropped on Afridi’s bowling in his last two overs the standard of the fielding has been miserable. The sweepers are not diving to save the boundaries and the fielders are not taking easy catches.

Findley is gone, run out by Younis/Akmal.

Malik has taken  the third power play and Gul is coming in to bowl this is the most crucial stage of the match Gul will have to bowl a perfect length.

82 required of 67 balls, required run rate is 7.3, Two short balls and the west indian batsmen failed to take advantage of them, Malik had no fielder on the short fine leg to take the catch.

Chanderpaul has an interesting technique he has an unusual stance,  his shoulders are fully open, I think if Gul bowls him a faster Yorker he can clean him up.

LBW denied! the umpire gives it a run, replays suggest the bat was no where near it was all pads.

65 required of 55 balls, the match has tilted in the favor of West Indies the dropped catch of Chander Paul is proving to be too costly.

Gul removed Baugh and Rao took the wicket of Taylor two quick wickets and the match is on Chanderpaul is still there. 63 required of 49 balls.

Excellent over by Gul he is mixing his yorkers and bouncers well, he tried a faster Yorker against ChanderPaul and almost had him maybe in next over he should try a slower one.

Rao is bowling beautifully bowled two beautiful leg cutters. Feilding standard has been poor too many run out chances have been missed several catches have been dropped.

42 required of 29 balls, Chanderpaul completed his 100 of 139 balls, now he is going to cut loose can he finish the match?

50 required of 37 balls Pakistan needs a wicket here. The power plays have ended and now the field restrictions will be relaxed, Tanvir has three more overs to go hopefully he will provide the breakthrough.

Saeed Ajmal is coming in to bowl this is a make or break situation for both teams, Ajmal has dropped two catches in the match so far, he needs to get a wicket here to make amends. Can he do it?

37 required of 24 balls, Tanvir has two left. Pakistan needs a wicket Saeed Ajmal will have to bowl a perfect over, Ajmal flights the ball and Akmal takes a good catch it was a Doosra, Miller is gone, the tail is exposed now the match can go either way, Chanderpaul is still there he is running out of partners he needs to open up.

The runrate has gone up to 10.3. Powel is the new man in he can strike the ball. Great over by Ajmal just 2 runs of it and a wicket.

32 required of 16 balls, Tanvir is bowling can he take a wicket in this over.

27 required of the last two overs, Gul has one over left he is coming in to bowl the match depends on this over.

Bowled him! Gul proved to be too much for Powell. The match has slipped away from West Indies Last Man Baker in, Chanderpaul’s 100 has probably gone wasted he was a bit too slow. GONE! Gul bowls a spearing yorker and Baker is all cleaned up. Pakistan wins the series, what a comeback WestIndies blowed a perfect chance to level the series, Chanderpaul is to be blamed he never opened up he should have tried to finish the match in the last power play.

Pakistan chased a big total successfully i the first match and defended a small total successfully in the second match, Westindies batsmen squandered all the hard work done by their bowlers, ChanderPaul was the chief culprit, he couldn’t pace his innings properly although he completed his century but he never really tried to finish the match, which was surprising.

Both Gul and Ajmal redeemed themselves in the death overs, Malik again saved his own ass and included Ajmal in place of Fawad in a key match so that he doesn’t have to bowl his full quota of 10 overs it was a big risk given the fragility of the Pakistan batting line up but in the end Ajmal bowled well, the wicket had a bit of turn for the pacers and Pakistani bowlers fully capitalized on it the total of 233 was never going to be easy given Pakistan’s bowling strength, the West Indian team with the exception of Gayle doesn’t have a power hitter, I don’t know why Dwayne Smith and Bravo were not selected for this tour.
