The news from Abu Dhabi are that fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar after a rigorous practice session has strained his side muscle and may not play the first match, the team management will make a decision on him tommorrw morning. Bad luck for Shoaib and Pakistan, he was working hard on his fitness and form and almost regained his bowling rhythm, Chris Gayle called him the difference between the two teams but just when every thing looked fine Shoaib’s fragile and injury prone body deserted him once again.
He will again be crucified by the media, injuries are a job hazard for fast bowlers especially for bowlers who bowl as fast as Akhtar but Shoaib’s problem is his run up his body can no longer bear such a long run up, he needs to cut it down. I hope he gets fit before the match as he was working really hard to make a comeback, if not then tomorrow again the knives will be out and once again he will be making the news headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Scorpi as Q said that he is spending too much time in the bars and thats a shame he will have to change his ways the time he spends in the gym is of no use if doesn’t curtails his bad habits his body is too fragile.
I echo Sp’s suggestion… maybe that will turn things around…. perhaps like Watson, he was spending too much time in the gym stressing out those muscles.
I fail to understand why Gul was bowling so short earlier on he is too experienced to do that,As I said earlier to select Rauf in place of Sohail Khan was a mistake and to play him a head of Rao was also a mistake.
Q and SB
I fully agree he will have to change his habits, if he has to play for another year or two.
Q
If thats true I am truly disappointed in him.
Excellent comeback by Pakistan. The total was supposed to be far in excess of 300…now not so.
Drinking dehydrates the body and that stiffens the muscles making them prone to tear on exertion.
How difficult is it to do some obvious correction for your own progress?
Pakistan will now need a few more wickets to keep it all reasonable.
Its his own fault man.. he cant stay away from the partying.. he was dancing and drinking away at the Royal Meridien after a day of practicing… he needs to take a leaf out of watsons book…
akhtar should seriously respect his body dynamics…a la watson…
he too used to get injured often bt now seems at peace with his body and results are there to be seen…
Ottayan
Of course it is a genuine injury, he is one player who has never been involved in any illicit activity he has been working extremely hard since the last few months to regain full fitness
he almost achieved his full bowling rhythm his performance in the Pentangular cup has been good. I think bad luck chases him.
Is it a genuine injury then he should not worry about the rumour mongers.
