Mohammad Yousuf has joined ICL once again , the news came out on the eve when his name was announced in the 15 member squad of Pakistan for the Abu Dhabi series. Mohammad Yousuf joined ICL before his inaugural season citing differences with PCB, but Nasim Ashraf later on convinced him to back off from the contract he returned the ICL money and was financially compensated by PCB, he also received Us $300,000 from IPL without playing a single match.

Yousuf has been consistently black mailing PCB and has been using ICL as a leverage to negotiate with PCB, his relations with PCB became sour when he was not selected for the T20 tournament in Toronto he openly threatened to join ICL , he was not taking part in the on going Pentangular cup, which raises the question that why his name was announced in the 15 member squad, his innings in the semi final against Sialkot was instrumental in sending Sialkot to the RBS T20 finals, in cricket circles it is being said openly that Yousuf fixed that match and threw it away on purpose.

It will be a huge blow to Pakistan’s test team as Yousuf was the most reliable test batsman of Pakistan, there was no reason for Yousuf to join ICL and risk his career, he is one guy who has repeatedly preferred money over national duties he has proved time and again that he is an extremely greedy person with no morals, its time that PCB should make an example of him for others.

Update:

Karachi: Indian Premier League official and former BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah has threatened to take legal course against Mohammad Yousuf if the Pakistani batsman returned to the ‘rebel’ Indian Cricket League fold.

Shah has claimed that the IPL reserved the right to take legal action against Yousuf as he had been paid an advance of $125,000 for joining them. Even if he had not played in the League for any team, he was a contracted player with them.

“We reserve the right to take legal action against him if he has joined the Indian Cricket League,” Shah told Geo News.

The Indian board official said Yousuf was given a contract by the IPL on the insistence of the Pakistan Cricket Board which was keen he get a chance to play in the league after he broke away from the ICL in late 2007.

Yousuf’s decision to join the ICL comes at a time when he has filed an appeal in the Mumbai High Court against a stay order issued by an arbitrator against him playing for any other league.

The arbitrator had ruled after ICL had filed a legal case against Yousuf for breach of contract after the batsman first signed up for them in August, 2007 and then returned his advance payment and decided to get a contract in the Indian Premier League.

Update:

Karachi (PTI): Mohammad Yousuf is all set to sign a fresh contract with the Indian cricket League after being assured by legal advisers that the Indian Premier League has a very weak case against him to stop from playing in India.

“He will now officially rejoin the ICL in a fresh contract and could be playing in the league at the weekend,” a well-placed source told PTI.

Yousuf had developed second thoughts about signing up for the ICL after the IPL threatened to take him to court on the ground that he had signed with them.

But after assurance from legal advisers that IPL has a very weak case against him, Yousuf has now decided to ink a fresh deal with the ICL, sources said.

“Yousuf has been assured that since he originally had signed up for ICL and they had not dropped his claim on him, the IPL had no legal grounds to claim it had signed him on,” sources said.
