Umar Gul tames Sri Lanka
on October 11th, 2008 at 7:40 pmSrilanka showed their intent in the very first over when Jayasuriya struck Shoaib Akhtar two consecutive boundaries and got out trying for the third one, Shoaib Akhtar and tanvir proved to be expensive as they both gave away 52 runs in the first 6 overs they bowled, Jahan Mubarak who was promoted up the order was particularly aggressive he scored 39 of 29 balls, Malik surprised everyone in the seventh over when he sent backUmar gul who was coming in to bowl and he introduced himself into the attack something which he has never done before when the team is under pressure Malik always runs away from the ball, but jokes apart its a welcome change he bowled a good spell along with Afridi and both took one wicket each Malik removed the dangerous Mubarak, but it was Umar Gul who made the real difference in the end he not only brought the runrate down but also took 4 wickets in his three overs his yorkers were unplayable and Srilankan batsmen had no answer to them, In the end Srilanka which were lookking to score around 160 at one stage were tamed by Gul and managed to score 137/9.
Srilanka rested its several star players for todays match.
Pakistan is struggling at 72/5 after 12 overs parchi Shoaib Khan was again a failure, Younis Khan scored a run a ball 24, Salman Butt could only score 7 in this match, Misbah trying to up the tempo got out after scoring 19, and that brainless donkey from Karachi Afridi could only score one run, Malik mis on the crease with Kamran Akmal the asking rate is close to 9, the problem is why can’t we select players just on merit, their has been two much of jingoistic pressure in the media and on the net from different corners which puts a lot of pressure on the selectors. The selectors should select the best 15 regardless of where they hail from period.
Just when the match was slipping away from pakistan Malik and Fawad Alam rescued Pakistan from no where.
Fawad played beautifully and displayed his batting form to the fullest, Srilanka are left stunned they thought they had shut out Pakistan but Fawad and Malik clinched Victory from the Jaws of defeat.

Scorpy:
He can’t score in double figures in three straight matches, his bowling against top teams has been average all he is doing is playing mind games with the the captain and the team, its about time either he gets back into form or its time for him to be dropped.
‘Brainless donkey from Karachi’… ha ha ha… good one Wasim… It’s time they drop him… when was the last time he scored a century.
How does the mind of a jingoistic Afirdi fan works?
If Afridi performs well:
Make him Captain with immediate effect.
If he fails to perform:Which is almost 95% of the time with the bat.
Its always Malik’s fault.
If he fails to score:
Malik never sent him at the # he wants:
If he fails to score at the # he wanted:
Malik will now take advantage of the situation and will kick him out.
The jingoistic mind always praises and highlights the slightest of achievements and never talks about the consistent failures and tries to ignore them altogether or tries to blame it on others.
Fawad Alam gets slammed for 13 runs the other day against SriLanka nobody talked about it today he bowled well, all of a sudden the knives were out against Malik. Malik scored 40+ runs and finsihed the job but Fawad’s two sixes were more important and if god forbid Malik had finished the Job all by himself then he would have been deemed insecure by the racist jingos.
The mind of a jingo is insecure and filled with jealousy, hate and narcissism and completely devoid of any fairness and honesty its time for the new management of Pcb break free of all the jingoistic pressures as far as the selection is concerned.
Malik granted the wish of Afridi to open the innings today in the match against Zimbabwe but the result was again the same that brainless donkey got out in one minute, from today onwards I will call him “minute man Afridi”.
Thanks SB,
Today Umar was at his best perhaps the pressure of so many quality bowlers on the bench made him perform according to his potential. Fawad Alam is a good batsman and an ok fielder but he can’t bowl he recently showed great form in Kenya where he scored three centuries including a triple 100, he needs to bat a bit higher.
As regards Afridi he can solely play in the team for his bowling for sometime as long as Pakistan doesn’t find another quality all rounder, he can never become a good batsman we all know that, he is a brainless donkey when it comes to batting, its funny that today he also suggested the same thing in the media that he is willing to open the innings, he employs this ploy every now and then whenever his batting slump prolongs he shifts the blame on the captain or the team management as if they are not using him properly, but each time he was promoted in the past he failed even more miserably and as a result the team came under pressure, I guess he should be played as a bowler only but Shahid with his current form should keep a low profile or soon he will be joining ICL bandwagon there is no way a brainless idiot like him can lead Pakistan team he should stop these mind games and should only concentrate on his game, and BTW I have never seen anybody trying to regain form for years while playing in the team, the new selectors will perhaps take note of that and will put an end to this never ending drama.
Pakistan won with a ball to spare! Congratulations!
Umar Gul is a top bowler. Fawad Alam is a good fielder and batsman for Pakistan and can bowl useful overs. One of the more useful youngsters yo have come up recently.
Do you think Shahid’s time is up? Some have been saying that…but I am of the view that his greatest value is when the power-plays are on and the field is in. he shouldn’t have been disturbed from opening slot. If he needed to be dropped to shake him up, do so, but if he plays, play him at either 1 or 2.
