Upset by the dismal performance of Pakistan team Nasim Ashraf wrote a strict email to manager Talat Ali, the details of the email were leaked out in the press and were published in Daily Dawn .
Nasim Ashraf was clearly upset over the team’s performance and lack of planning against India, he strongly criticised Malik’s tactics and antics as a captain, he also criticised Kamran Akmal’s keeping and Afridi’s batting in his email. I will not go in details you can read the context of his email by clicking on the above link.
Whatever he wrote in his email I can’t disagree with it, Malik as a Captain and player is spineless there is no doubt about it, Lawson as a coach has done nothing to improve the Pakistani team, he has formed an alliance with Malik and is just playing politics.
But in my opinion Nasim Ashraf is pretending that he was unaware of the problems with the team, if there is anybody to be blamed for the state of affairs of Pakistan team its Nasim Asraf.
There are three aspiring captains in the team playing under Malik.
Younis Khan’s performance in all the key matches have been pathetic since last one year, he is consistently underperforming and working against his own team, just in the last match he dropped two easy catches and threw away his wicket on the first ball, but surprisingly he gets automatic selection, when ever he scores either its for a lost cause or he scores those runs at such a slow pace that his team never recovers, Who is to be blamed for his continued presence in the team? he was recently interrogated by ICC’s Match fixing panel, but no action was taken against him. Even in the test matches he has only performed when he knew his team can’t come back in the match, anybody who has a doubt can go in the archives of Pakistan’s matches and look at his performances.
The other culprit is Afridi, just like Malik his place in the team is also as an All rounder, I don’t care if his fans now just consider him as a bowler now? His role in the team is as an All rounder and thats the bottom line, the guy after every series publicly oppologizes for his poor performance and promises to make a come back, he himself acknowledges his poor performance but his blind fans keep on coming with new reasons to keep him in the team. Look at his performances in the key matches, the final of T20 cup he threw away his wicket, against SA in the final ODI match there were plenty of balls left all he needed was to take singles he again threw away his wicket resulting in a series loss for Pakistan. Against India in the 4th ODI again look at his performance, his bowling this year hasn’t been great against good teams, yes last year he was superb against every team, right now he is just Andhoon mein kaana Raja. He has openly aspired to lead the team and at times vocally criticised Malik’s captaincy, while consistently failing with the bat and failing to fulfill his own role in crunch matches, Yousuf also aspired to be the captain, but except for a few matches where he scored too slow and was selfish, he consistently scored and is the only batsman in the team on which you can count on.
My question is that when you have only one batsman in the team on which you can truly count how do you expect to win against the top teams? you have rogue players in the team who are so strong no matter what their crimes are they still get automatic selection, they know they will have to face no consequences.
How can Nasim Ashraf pretend that he was oblivious of these facts, firing Saleem Altaf and may be firing Malik and Lawson at the end of the series is not going to solve the problem, Nasim Ashraf will have to admit his own follies.
You kicked out your best bowler just because he said something about the management.
You let your senior players skip domestic matches, despite making claims that it is necessary for every one to play in the domestic season in order to get selected.
You hired a dummy foreign coach, and fired Waqar Younis who was performing well, Why because you never wanted any powerful domestic coach, you wanted a dummy coach.
You appointed Malik as the captain on the grounds that you want an aggressive young captain but then again crippled him by keeping three aspiring captains under his command. Look at the Indian team they appointed Dhoni as captain and gave him a team filled with young players, players like Dravid, Ganguly, Kumble and sometimes even Sachin do not feature in their ODI team as a result Dhoni has full command over his team. What was the point in appointing Malik as captain when the rotten seniors were still going to be in the team. You could have been better off with one of the senior players as captain under these circumstances.
Under your management PCB has squandered millions on Executives living lavishly, but the young cricketers are playing without coaches, clubs and associations who are breeding grounds for new talent do not get any funds.
Due to the lack of foresight of your management Pakistan lost 14-16 players to ICL as a result Pakistan has no bench strength, even if you want to replace Malik or Afridi who are you going to replace them with? there is no spinner and there is no allrounder sitting on your bench, you have players like Fawad Alam who are not ready for International cricket. Why couldn’t you foresee the consequences of this league and why proper measures were not taken to assure the players of financial compensation.
Your Email was just an effort to do damage control, this mess has been created only by you and you have always been aware of these problems, your team is only good to beat Bangladesh and Zimbabwe consistently don’t fool yourself that your team can beat any good team. Its time for you to take responsibility and resign with immediate effect.

And sorry folks… it may take a while before I can be regular in the blogging world… so please excuse my absence… cheers
Wasim… what that cricket administrator did was wrong and stupid… you cannot conduct yourself in this manner and secondly it is not his business or job to address those issues in that mail. i echo Otss… they definitely have selective amnesia
Waqar and Hassan don’t lose your temper I can deal with him in my own way.
He has no fans at Pakspin, he poops all over that blog, people curse him out on each thread and thats what he likes.
I don’t have to respond others will do it for me, he is not worthy of my comments.
Pakistan have won the match, I will write my match review later tonight.
The whole team played well, the match could have finished earlier but umpire Nadir Shah tried his best to keep the Indians alive. Afridi was unlucky he could have taken 5 wickets today, well bowled! hope he recovers his form with the bat.
I absolutely agree with Waqar and I told you the same thing, we stopped writing because you were not letting us respond to that Janwar from Montreal.
Wasim
You need to put that Janwar from Montreal in his place. He deliberately makes fake posts on Pakspin and his own site with different names and then associate them with you. His ass is still sore and burning since you kicked it so hard.
The moron is suffering from megalomania he thinks he has too many fans on Pakspin, I have seen him and his Chamchays begging and pleading on Pakspin like curbside whores to attract customers for their web kotha, but nobody came even to pee on their faces.
If you wont respond to those guys I will and don’t you try to delete my posts.
Q
I disagree with you,we had this argument before and you know my answer,he was always an Allrounder, the funny thing is that his fans go in such great lengths in his defence and deny his shortcomings which he himself openly admits in the public.
He became a good bowler in the last 2 years only and in all those earlier years he was only the team because of his ability to score quickly lower down the order.
My question is if Malik can get the flak for not bowling why Afridi should not get the flak for not batting sensibly. Why are people so defensive about him? Both of them are disrupting the balance of the team, and both of them can’t find their place in the team on one skill.
I have nothing personal against him I would love to see him perform, but my problem with him is his lack of application in key matches. He should not be rewarded for his underperformances.
You know the matches I am talking about.
It seems India are playing with 12 players three plumb decisions on the bowling of Afridi against three different batsmen were given not out by the same umpire.
Well bowled Shahid!
Who the 3rd aspiring captain.
No matter what u say, Afridi is a bowler. He always has been. The team management over the years tried to convert him into an allrounder that he never was. It was their mistake. He came into the team to replace Mushtaq Ahmed, he used to bat at 9-10 for the U19 team when he joined the senior team. It was his day in his 2nd ODI that he batted at 3 and scored the fastest century and since then peoples expectations have been soaring high which is wrong.
He was always a bowler and will always be one.
Let me ask u, who will u replace him by?
Nasim Ashraf is the main culprit in the last 18 months he has created a crisis after crises, the shady selection for the WC07, the firing of Waqar younis, appointment of Lawson as coach and huge expenditures at the PCB academy for which they have nothing to show for, no new players have been discovered, Pakistan in the past has always reaped benefits by inducting youth in the team, this management keeps on persisting with some old players for reason only known to them. You raised a very important point of losing all the bench strength to ICL. Malik is spineless as a captain and does not command any respect from senior players.
In my opinion if the current Pakistan team is only good enough to beat Minnows then why shouldn’t we hire new players even our club cricketers can beat these two teams.
Great analysis:
Firing Malik as a captain will solve only part of the problem, what about the other under performers who have failed to perform their role in key matches, Pakistan should have won the T20 finals, the ODI series against SA and they could also have won the ODI series against India in India if Afridi and Younis had performed to their capacity in the key matches.
And what about Nasim Ashraf’s own corruption, here is an article its a must read.
http://blogs.cricinfo.com/surfer/archives/2008/05/run_nasim_ashra.php
Geoff lawson didn’t called any team meeting and held no practice sessions yesterday instead he went golfing.
That shows the commitment of that moron.
Another moron Talat Ali says media is trying to exaggerate the context and language of Nasim Ashraf’s email, whereas he regards it as buisness as usual.
Ottatyan you summed it up in just two words.
All administrators suffer ‘selective amnesia’.
