Royal Challengers V Kolkata Knight Riders
The first season of IPL kicked off today and the 44 day showdown has begun, where all the International stars will battle for glory and cash, the atmosphere is electric, the stadium is jam packed , the first match is between Royal Challengers and Kolkata Knight Rider, Rahul Dravid won the toss and elected to field.
The first Innings is over Kolkata Knight riders have scored 222/3 in 20 overs, Brendon Mccullum rained sixes and fours all over the ground he scored 158 off 73 balls and hit 10 4′s and 13 6′s, the bowling by challengers was erratic the feilding was horrendous, the boundaries are extremely short even outside edges fly over the boundary so the score which looks too big in reality is not that big , but the challengers batting line up looks like a test line up they do not have power hitters on top, but they should comfort themselves that Shoaib Akhtar and Umar Gul will not be bowling for Kolkata as Shoaib’s appeal is still pending and Umar Gul is with the Pakistani team in Karachi. There is no match between the two teams and it will be an easy win for Kolkata.

Challengers sucked,only one batsman could move into the double figures,Why Zaheer was playing? when he just got his surgery.
Royal Challengers truly suck they ruined the opening match with their pathetic performance.I don’t agree Shoaib’s inclusion will have any effect as the boundaries are small and even top edges were flying for sixes the faster it comes the faster it goes,Kolkata showed discipline in their bowling they were moving the ball both ways and using change of pace and change of angles to make it difficult for the batsmen to hit through the line,in T20 you need variety in bowling and not pace, I was impressed the way Ganguly bowled I think the addition of Umar Gul if he regains his form will do just fine for them.
Ipl got a perfect start by a highly entertaining innings of McCullum, but the second innings was a complete anti climax I haven’t seen even a single match so one sided in the ICL, looking at the packed house and highly charged atmosphere I can safely predict that the first season will be a huge success.
What a pathetic display of bowling feilding and batting by Challengers they were completely humiliated by the Knight Riders, their bowlers failed to take advantage of the early due factor and failed to bowl in the right areas,none of them could move the ball off the seam, and they varied their line too much, they will get their bowling reinforced but in picking up their batting line up they made some fatal mistakes.
SRK’s Kolkata Knight Riders have defeated Malia’s Royal Challengers by 140 runs,it was expected that the KKR’s will prevail over RC’s but nobody predicted or expected such a rout, Brendon Mccullum decimated the RC attack by highly entertaining knock of 158 of 73 balls,it was said by many pundits that Vijay Malia has paid too much too Kallis and Zaheer his batting line up is not suitable for a T20 match even the batting order was not right,in my opinion Boucher or Cameroon White should have opened with Jaffer,their batting will get a boost when Misbah will join them and their bowling line up will cetainly get boosted when Steyn,Bracken and Abdur Razzazk will join them, but lack of fire power in their batting lineup will still remain a major concern for them.
Kolkata is well balanced but if they don’t get Shoaib it might hurt them in the long run.
