Pakistan have beaten Bangladesh by 7 wickets in a rain curtailed match, Bangladesh scored 226 in 48.2 overs when rain stopped the match a revised target of 158 in 25 overs was given to Pakistan which made the match a bit more interesting as the required RR climbed to 6.34 from the beginning, Salman Butt (76) and Nasir Jamshed (21) gave their team a blazing start they scored 39 of the first four overs which forced Ashraful to bring in Shakabul Hassan and Abdur Razzak earlier on in the Innings, the spinners did a fine Job for their captain and dried up the boundaries and Nasir Jamshed who was scoring at will against the pacers struggled against the spinners and lost his wicket trying to heave Shakab over the Midwicket boundary and was clean bowled.
Younis scored a quick 13 which included a massive six of Mahmudullah but threw away his wicket when he moved outside the offstump too early and completely exposed his stumps to Reza who bowled a well directed ball on the leg stump to clean him up.
Yousuf was the next man in, who is in sublime form, from the very first ball he played his strokes all over the ground and did not wasted any ball he kept on placing the ball between the gaps with the use of his wrists and kept the score board ticking, he also struck some powerful boundaries in his cameo of 32 and also became the second Pakistani batsman after Inzamam to cross 9000 runs in ODis.
Tamim Iqbal scored an aggresive 60 but the wickets kept on falling on the other end, Mahmudullah tried to rebuild the innings he scored 58* the rest of the Bangladesh committed the same mistakes as they did in the first match Afridi was the most successful bowler for Pakistan who took 3/33, Umar Gul was agin the most expensive he is struggling with his rythm and line & length, I think in the next match he should be rested and Sohail Khan should be played in his place.

Shoaib & Co will try and win 11th ODI in a row,it is quite possible that Malik & co will create this new record but how insignificant this record would be it can only be judged from this fact that Bangladesh have won 39 out of 176 ODIs so far, but 33 of those wins have been against Zimbabwe and other non-Test-playing team so if Pakistan white washes Bangladesh it will only improve their ICC rankings and Malik and DNA & Co will have something positive to show off other than that it was a waste of time and money a well planned domestic T20 or ODI series could have been much more fruit full for Pakistan Cricket.
Younis Khan is back for the final ODI and in a strange move PCB preferred him over Yousuf for T20 match against Bangladesh, only the morons at PCB can ignore the best batsman in the world and prefer a temperamental baffoon
over him, I still can’t understand how the heavy handed PCB did not took any action against Younis for his indiscipline? what does he have against the PCB officials? that they are toothless and helpless against him.
Why was Younis so upset over ACU quiz? If he had nothing to hide and if his conscience was clear then why he showing attitude? Kamran Abbassi called him a Superficial star in his latest post and I completely agree with him in fact I have been criticizing Younis on Pakspin Since the last Champion’s Trophy,he has a habit of throwing his wicket on the most crucial moments to some horrendous shots, I cant find any other player In Pakistan team who has underperformed on so many occasions in the recent past and because of whom we lost so many matches,I fully support ACU’S quiz and do hope that pretty soon a detailed report will come out.
A lot of people criticized Bazid for his 90 ball 50 in the 4th OdI, I think he played well as their was no need to hurry at least his technique was right he barely missed a ball his defense was perfect and he did displayed some of the shots he can play,he did struggled with finding the gaps initially but later on he got his confidence back, but a particular Jingoistic lobby lets no opportunity slip by to criticize players from Punjab on Pakspin, especially BUTT, Malik and Akmal,in the current series if a new comer disappointed me it was Fawad Alam he is an average bat,his bowling is pedestrian
but since he is from Karachi he is untouchable,Such criticism has already destroyed the careers of several good players who have already joined ICL, the follies of Afridi are ignored in fact they are just erased from the memory and one failure by Misbah, Malik or Butt is responded by scathing criticism such double standards have destroyed the country and are going to completely destroy our cricket.
Kasim Saheb:
Faisal Iqbal got many chances but he failed time and again, he is still young maybe he will make a comeback, as far the names of the bowlers you mentioned as I said I closely watched each and every game of Pentangular cup none of these bowlers is ready for International cricket or in other words better than the frontline bowlers, Kamran Hussain is the only one who can do reverse swing and can use the seam skillfully but he is too slow doesn’t have any pace, same is the problem with Anwar Ali can swing the bowl but doesn’t have any speed not any more he has lost at least a yard of pace since the U19 WC, Abdul Rauf and Ramiz and Wahab Riaz they are all too flat they are quick but can only bowl in 130′s they are not express, I hope you must have followed their performance in the domestic tournaments, coming back to Sohail Khan I don’t know if you got the oppurtunity to watch todays match against Bangladesh did you see him bowl even one ball which moved in the air or off the seam he was express but was flat and straight any good batting line up will destroy him,I agree with you that these guys should be groomed and inducted in the team before they get too oldI also agree that our coach is not the right person for the job he himself was an ordinary bowler how can he teach something which he himself doesn’t know.
I think Pakistani cricket fans are caught up in a very funny situation they have very high and unrealistic expectations from their team and when those expectations are not lived up to they start crying for change just for the sake of it, ignoring the fact that the available talent is not top class and even the senior players although they are the best players in the country but Internationally speaking they are not the best.
Regionalism is destroying our cricket, take an example of Fawad Alam IMO he is just an average player but just because there is so much pressure on the selectors to select him he is being given a chance his bowling is pedestrian he is a good fielder and an average batsman, might prove usefull in T20 but not in tests and not in ODi’s.
I think Sohail Tanvir should be given more chance to bat, he comes too late down the order, he has the ability to hit cleanly like Akram and Razzak he should be given more chance to bat so that he can become a dependable all rounder.
I am not opposed to Majid Khan’s appointment as the head of PCB but welcome it whole-heatedly since he is one of my heroes.
But my contention is that, people will always have an excuse to point a finger at him and may ruin a brilliant career of his son, Bazid Khan, for no fault of the young man.
An example of such a tragedy is right before us:
When Faisal Iqbal was first selected, almost everybody
said that since he is Javed Miandad’d nephew, he has been
preferred over more desrving players. And as soon as he
failed in a single inning, which was bound to happen, as
no batsman could avoid, there was loud outcry for his
removal and foul-play and nepotism and what-not.
He was never given a fair chance and a sword was always
hanging over his head. Many a less talented players were
given longer runs but he was always under the microscope.
I appeal to all of you. Come out of your narrow-
midedness.
Think about it honestly. Was’nt a talented youngster’s
career went down the drain just because be is related to
a great, though, controversial figure?
Wasim,
I beg to defer. We have Abdur Rauf, Mohammed Irshad and Anwar Ali and other under 19s World Cup winning team pacers whose names I can’t recall at this moment beside this year’s under 19s pacers like Mohammed Ammar, Mohammed Rameez and Adil Raza in addition to others who are in the probables squads like Wahab Riaz, Kamran Hussain etc.
What that idiot coach of ours, who was himself a fast bowler doing all this time? He should have groomed many
emerging talents.
It doesn’t matter if Majid’s son is available for selection he is in good form right now and deserves to be in the team on merit, I have never doubted Majid’s integrity during his tenure Pakistan has always been on the top, he knows about cricket and also has good management skills and is respected all over the world in my opinion there is no other guy better than him to head PCB.
Kasim Saheb:
With the exception of Sohail Khan their is no other young fast bowler who is ready for International cricket,I was expecting that after taking 91 wickets in the domestic season he will get an automatic selection over Rao Iftikhar or Umar Gul but it seems PCB want to give a chance to these guys to get their rythm back, Sohail Khan will probably play in the next matches, all the senior batsmen are in form it would not be a wise Idea to break the combination, the youngsters will get a chance in due course of time only 11 players can play in a team and with Afridi in form it is hard to play Fawad Alam, Sarfraz Ahmed can get a chance in place of Kamran Akmal. Maybe in the rebuilding stage our team needed to play against these second string teams to get more confidence, we have created a bench strength as far as our batting is concerned, bowling still remains a concern but I have closely followed the domestic tournaments and none of the bowlers except Sohail Khan is ready in fact our frontline bowlers they have not improved either, Umar gul and Rao Iftikhar are out of form any quality batting will demolish them Sohail Tanvir although he is taking wickets but he is still bowling on the pads, he cant bowl to left handed batsmen he bowls too many wides I would not count on him against good teams especially in test matches.
But thats the available talent pool in the country PCB cant do much about it.
A win is a Win we should not forget that this Bangladesh team has beaten almost every good team in the recent past, the team is playing good so I will not project too much negativity,we should give the credit where it is due.
Shoaib Malik already said that after winning the series they will give chance to youngsters which is fair enough.
Pakistan has won both ODIs against BD. No surprises there!!
When would Pakistan give chances to new talents? After they are beyond their “sell by” dates? like they have wasted several promising talents because they are not the “chosen ones”?
Look at Australia, South Africa, even India. We are not budging from those Medium-pacers. There are several exciting fast bowling prospects coming up. We did not give them a chance against Zim, we are still ignoring them agains BD.
When will we try them? against Australia? and say, see, we told you, they are not good enough, and go back to their own “chamchas?”.
The opening is still in the hands of favorites. The desrving and proven ones are ignored. So is the case of wicket-keeping, unless others are not tried and God-forbid,
Kamran Akmal is injured, will you induct a complete rookie? Why not have a couple of stand-by ready?
Why not give an extended run to couple of all-rounders as well? If you dont plan ahead for futur now, then when the time comes for replacement, where will you find them? they dont grow on trees!! Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel, Hashim Amla, Ashwell Prince or Ishant Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Gautam Gambhir, Sreesanth and others were’nt plucked from the tree. They were groomed. STUPIDS.
Asif Iqbal, one of the greatest all-rounders, Pakistan has been blessed with, came out strongly against ICC’s decision to re-instate Darryll Hair.
The meek and weak bosses of PCB does’nt have the guts to take a stand and simply bowed down to another rebuff from the “Imperial Cricket Council”.
It is time to overhaul the entire setup of PCB, from the Chairman to the last “Chaprasi” including the Director, Cricket (I wonder, could there be a Director, Gilli Danda? in Cricket Board? or Director, Wrestling?) and all the Directors, Actors, Ullos and Sallus and “Muftkhors” and replace them with honest, experienced, hard-working and visionary people who has no axes to grind but to see Pakistan at the top three teams of the world.
And thats why I oppose appointing Lt. Gen. Tauqir Zia or Majid Khan (one of my heroes) because their sons are in line for selection and I dont want anybody pointing a finger to their integerity as I personally know that Late Dr. Jahangir Khan resigned from the then Selection Commitee when Majid Khan was in line for selection citing that he does not want to sit on it while his son is being considered!!
He along with Late Abdul Hafeez Kardar and other dedicated men of honor and integerity made Pakistan the force that it became in the early and formative years which the present lot are bent upon destroying by their corrupt, selfish, regional and personal likes and dislikes.
Bazid Khan is set to make a come back after Younis Khan’s strange withdrawl from the third ODI,Bazid earned this spot anyways and I hope that he capitalizes on this chance he is in good form and was the best batsman in the Pentangular cup.
I can’t understand what is the problem with Younis Khan despite showing a good form in the domestic tournaments he is again throwing his wicket and now has pulled out of the tournament in protest.
He should retire from the shorter version of the game he does not have the skill or the temprament to play the shorter version.
